The end of week one....

Has brought no results. How frustrating. I thought I did really good with my food choices this week, and because of that, I guess I was expecting to see at least ONE lb of weight loss. What I DID see is zip, zilch, nada, and nothing.

How can I not think this is a pointless waste of time?

My mom and her friend are joining Weight Watchers this week. Its free registration and she asked me if I wanted to join.
Yes, that's exactly what I want to do, is sit in a meeting with a bunch of other fat people and discuss my weight and why I'm over eating...sounds thrilling.

I also feel like I've tried this all before. I've tried every diet there is in the book and yet here I sit.

The only change right now is I'm not giving up. I know it sounds like I am, but I'm not. Usually at this point in the "cycle" I do the "what's the point" speech and go find some ice cream.

Instead, I ate some Special K and I'm joining Weight Watchers on Wed. Fatties Unite.

  1. I'm sure it is really frustrating not to see results right now. The feeling that you've tried everything is one that is all too familiar to me too. Sometimes we DO need to try everything until something works for us. So keep at it. You're facing a lot of challenges... but I think you will find some good motivation with your mom and her friend and Weight Watchers. You're taking the right steps to surround yourself with support. :)

  2. Keep it up Nicole!
Make good food choices, as in less sugar, less salt. You have to be careful with yogurts, I know we all think yogurt is healthy, but check the sugar content of them. No soda! That's a big one! Even diet!
    Water, water, water!

A lot of weight loss is changing more than your eating habits. You have to change your activity level, as well.
I know it's STUPID cold right now, but a good idea is to take a walk after dinner.
Try some yoga...it will help with your mood and your flexibility.

I know you said a Wii is expensive, but if you have the money, I would strongly suggest you get on and a Fit. It's FUN!
Most of the time you don't feel like you're "working out". And you do the "exercises" in small bursts.

    Keep at it girl!
    I believe in you!!!

(I don't want to sound like I'm preaching, just trying to help!)

  3. I hate weight watchers, i have tried it about 3 times, and i always just feel like i starve myself. The points are stupid! That said, I know LOTS of ppl that it has worked really well for, so I hope you are one of those. Keep me posted, if it seems to be a better program this time around maybe i will try again. I feel your frustration and am trying not to eat that bowl of ice cream too. Hugs and Love :)

  4. I joined Weight Watchers back in 2002 after my Mom did and lost a bunch of weight. I had great success because I stayed for the meetings. I had a great leader.. she knew how to motivate and get people to speak up. Everyone was there for the same reason: we had all warped views of food and needed to take control of our lives. Her meetings were packed. And she had some major success stories, I became one of them. I lost 40 lbs and totally gave Carol (the leader) a huge portion of the credit. Yes, I did it but she was the reason I had success. I had to quit after I got pregnant and went back after I had Noah. Unfortunately, Carol had moved on to doing office meetings and left my branch. The leader that took her place was nowhere near as good as she was. I was lost. My motivator was gone and I could not get back into the groove. I think I lost about 15 lbs or so before I quit and I haven't been back. I know now not to put so much stock into the leader...that it's my responsibility to find ways to motivate myself. I'd love to join WW again because I KNOW it works. I love the plan...counting points is so easy. But money is a factor right now and I can't afford the monthy meeting fees. But I wish you luck. I know you can do it and if you ever need motivation, just come to me. I learned tricks from the best!

  5. I did WW about 4 years ago and lost 45 lbs. Once I stopped going to meetings and weighing in, it slowly crept back on. With an additional 20 lbs. I started going again last summer and so far I'm only down 12 lbs but I feel better. My big problem is tracking the point. I did better once I signed up for it online and did the tracking there. I like the recipe builder and there is a restaurant guide that is useful.

Also check with your work to see if they offer any discounts. My work subsidizes part of the cost and it is only like $6.90/week. Almost half price.

    Hang in there.

  7. Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear you're not getting results. I can't even imagine how frustrating that must be! Everyone else that commented before me is right though. Something out there will work eventually. You HAVE to believe that and keep trying right? Otherwise, then what?

  8. I also have no results! But I have to remember that "results" doesn't necessarily mean today I'm down a pound. It means "whoa, I've never seen a number that low before!" Then of course it goes up 5 pounds the next day. (At least for me.) But if I'm seeing new lows every couple of weeks, I know I'm doing it right. So for me, it's too early to tell. Frustrating, though, because I'm doing everything right!

  10. You can do it nicole... just because you're not seeing changes on the scale doesn't mean there aren't changes on the inside!!!
